EL SOCIAL SAT 30th OCT 2009
Goodhood and Thats Right presents... El Social
Morgan Zarate, Darkstar, Olmino and Katie Skills
An evening of seriously good music, all night long. Just for fun and of course to make you dance!
Once again we will be joined by the mighty Morgan Zarate. Morgan spends most of his time locked up in his Hackney studio making serious soul music. Working on solo material as well as producing for other artists, his forthcoming projects are something to look forward to. But until then, its all about catching him bump the dance-floor. Morgan rocked our last party, and we feel privileged to have him back.
Next on the line up is the seriously talented and soon to be massive Darkstar. It's hard to know what to say about Darkstar, other than watch out!!! We love Darkstar. Seriously.
Finally, we present to you.. Goodhood's very own super playa... Mr Olmino, who along with Katie Skills, will be getting things warmed up nicely.

SALT SOUND WAVES
The amazing shapes and patterns that are created with every new tone or frequency made...look they are beautiful. SOUND IS BEAUTIFUL. EVERYTHING RESONATES AT A CURTAIN FREQUENCY, TAP IN TO IT AND IT WILL CHANGE SHAPE. SOUND IS EVERYTHING AND EVERYTHING IS SOUND.
This has totally inspired me to go deeper in to the power of sound and how we can use it to heal.

ORCHESTRE POLY RYTHMO DE COTONOU + GNAWA HOME SONGS - TAMESLOHT BLUES
This is a real treat, in fact one that can't be missed...The UK debut of Benin's legendary voodoo/funk sensation mixing funk and Afrobeat with Voudoun rhythms.
Arguably West Africa’s best kept secret, Benin's finest band spent the 1970s mixing funk and Afrobeat with the bewitching rhythms of their native Voudoun tradition. Their output, both in quantity and quality, was astonishing - and live they're still producing revelatory psychedelic grooves.
'It's like feeling that a doll in your image is being pierced through and that the needles are in the hands of James Brown.' Les Inrockuptibles.
Plus the support act from Gnawa Home Songs - Tamesloht Blues will also be performing.
Hailing from the holy village of Tamesloht in Morocco in the arid lands south of Marrakech, this group of master gnawa musicians bring their intimate and transgressive music, bearing the healing melodies of their ritual drums and krakebs. "Gnawa home songs" is an exceptional gathering of truly gifted soloists (vocals and guembri lute), brought together by masters Emmanuelle Honorin and Karim Ziad.

Eighties Ladies - Turned On To You
Now i see where D'Angelo got his horn stab ideas from. I can never seem to get enough of these dreamy chords on that sweet sounding Rhodes, and the backing vocal melodies are so beautifully harmonized. Had to share this one.
